Last Friday, I was unusually super excited about playing DoA4. You see, I’ve never been very good at that game; to be honest, I totally sucked at that game. So I was always reluctant to join a room full of S and SS level players with my big E- clearly telling everyone that I was a HUGE NOOB! But not that day, I was ready to go kick some Kasumi and Ryu butt! I had been trained by my team mate, and awesome Kokoro player, Liefje the Great, and I had been punch-grabbing and punch-punch-grabbing my way from an E- to a B+ in less than 2 weeks!! I was on the roll!!
So I pop in my DoA4 disk, and pick my primary character, Christie (suggested by Liefje), and joined a room full of B+ level players. I easily took down the first player who thought he had me with Kasumi, by 3-1! As I was fighting my second match with against a Brad Wong player, and something weird began to happen to my screen. The color of the characters started going bad. Brad Wong’s tattered grey shirt started to look an awful dark green, and the entire screen began to get darker and darker until the screen went black! I couldn’t believe it! My Xbox couldn’t be failing me now! Not for the fourth time! Not when I was training for an upcoming local DoA4 tournament! Noooooo!!!!
So I figured, this could be fixed. I’ll just remove all the cords from the back, and let everything rest for a few hours. But when I came back and replugged everything, it happened again! So then I figured, maybe it’s the game, so I popped in Rainbow Six Vegas 2, and it happened AGAIN!! So THEN I figured, maybe it’s the cords, so I switched the cords out with a friend of mine, AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN!!!! It was true, my Xbox had breathe it’s last breath for the fourth time since I bought the 360 on launch day in ’05!
I was immediately furious that Microsoft would keep sending me this shabby piece of machinery! And worst of all, the Xbox repairs people are charging me $99 to get it fixed!! So that puts my Xbox 360 tab to $500 since I bought it for $400 on launch day! And do I think it’s worth it, NO! Why should I have to pay for Microsoft’s mistake and faulty piece of equipment? I wouldn’t spend $400 on anything unless I was planning on keeping it forever, meaning I would take care of it like it should be taken care of and make sure it wouldn’t break. Nevertheless, I have to be subjected to the carelessness of a company that I trusted to invest $400 in, just to get screwed over and robbed for more money!!
As much as I love Halo and XBL and all of my Xbox friends, I’m never spending my money on any other console that Microsoft creates! So once I get enough money, I’m buying myself a PS3. Most game are multiplatform these days, and I’ve always been more of a Sony girl anyway. Sorry Microsoft, you put me out of the game for the last time. Screw me over once shame on you, screw me over four times……..
