Final Fantasy….AMNESIA!

So, for the past 4 days I’ve kinda taken a break away from Halo 3…..I know what you’re thinkin Your a pro gam3r, you can’t take a break, but since I’ve been playing more hardcore on H3, I’ve had to ignore one of my other loves. I’m a huge Final Fantasy fan, wait no, I’m a HUGE Final Fantasy LOVER! I’ve been playing since FFVIII and I haven’t stopped since. Before I went to the winter CPL in Dallas, I was very deep into the story line of Final Fantasy XII. 150 hours deep into the story line, but practice set in for the tournament, and soon I began to get Final Fantasy amnesia.

So I decided that I needed to get back into the game…..hmmmm where was I?? And what’s the story about again?? I cant believe that I actually forgot the story line 150 hours in! But starting over just wasn’t an option because I had worked so hard to get where I was, so I went side questing and rare game hunting, searching the world for the rarest of rarest loot to make the best weapons in the game.

And let me tell you, Final Fantasy XII has the most complex systems for getting weapons and armor than any FF series that I’ve ever played. In order to get a great sword or a decent shield, you have to try to find treasure chests that only spawn a small percentage of the time, and when the do spawn they have a small percentage of having the weapon you’re looking for, or you have to find very rare monsters that drop very rare loot that you can sell in combinations to get more loot that you have to sell in another combination, and only then are you able to buy these items for an insane amount of gil! I know that you may be confused, you should be unless you’ve played this game. All I can say is that this is one of the only things that I absolutely HATE about this game.

Since I’ve been playing for the past few days, I’ve hit the 178 hour mark, I’ve managed to get the Excalibur and the Masamune sword and the Zodiak shield, I’ve given up on trying to get the Tournesol and I’m definitely not even gonna get the Zodiac Spear, at least not this round, and I’ve hunted 25 of the 80 rare game. I only have 1 or 2 more clan hunts to complete, 2 more Espers to obtain, and my highest level is 65 with Vaan. I feel like I’ve caught the collector’s bug now because the past 28 gamer hours of my life had nothing to do with the story and everything to do with stealing loot and traversing the farthest reaches of the world for treasure chests and rare game with 20% appearance rates!

Now I hope that I didn’t turn anyone off of this game if they haven’t gotten it yet, it’s a little over a year old I think. It’s a very long game and you’re kind of forced to become a perfectionist with all it’s complexities. I have a feeling I’ll be playing this game for another 50 hours before I decide to figure out the story line again! I just hope this holds me over to Final Fantasy XIII!

Next gaming event is coming up - trito

eswc.jpg

In one week it’s time to pack the bags to go to the next gaming event. This time I won’t go that far though, I will go to the north part of Sweden to take part of DreamHack Skellefteå. DreamHack, the biggest LAN in the world, takes place twice a year in Jönköping, but this year they’ve expanded and will host an event in Skellefteå as well.

There will be a lot of tournaments at the LAN, among others ESWC pre qualifiers for CS and WC3. But the most spectacular tournament must be the CounterStrike one, where each player in the winning team receive a block of solid gold at a value of 10.000 euro.

I won’t be competing in any games myself this time though. I will be there filming the event for television and I won’t have time for playing any games. But it will be fun to be there anyway.

Back from Cebit - trito

n52teCebit is now over and me and Ms.X are back home in Sweden and Canada. We had a great time working for Belkin demonstrating the speed pad N52TE. There were a lot of people interested in the unit and a lot of people that signed up for playing me and Ms.X in the shootouts.

Each day we did a total of 32 shootout games and anyone could sign up to play us. I played Quake 4 (map Lost Fleet TMP) and Ms.X played Unreal Tournament 3 (map Sentinel). It was good to have two games to play since the challengers could sign up for the game of their choice.

After each session consisting of 8 games, the challenger with the highest amount of frags against us won their own N52TE. A pretty good prize considering it won’t be out on the market until April.

During the whole event me and Ms.X stayed undefeated, but a few people managed to get one or two frags and win their own N52TE. :D Congratulations to all the winners!!! and GG (good game) to all of you challengers that played us.

Thank you Belkin and all the other nice people I met during Cebit for making this event to a great experience.

We will try to get some photo’s up for you later.

The girlz to attend CeBIT Germany!

We are happy to announce that Therese “trito” Andersson and Alana “Ms.X” Reid will be heading to Hanover, Germany to attend CeBIT 2008. Just like CES, the girlz will be demonstrating the Belkin N52te game pad by taking challenges in both Quake 4 and Unreal 3 at the Belkin booth. This is very exciting news as CeBIT is the world’s largest trade fair showcasing digital IT and telecommunications solutions for home and work environments.

The Belkin booth will be located in Hall 25, Stand E84. If you’ll be attending definitely come by the booth and challenge one of the girlz in a fun game and try out the N52te, which comes equipped with fully customizable keys, portable player profiles, and pretty blue backlighting.  Hope to see you there!!

Call of Duty 4 = Sooo good! - Ms.X

I have a really bad flu right now but I just had to write a quick blog and express my love for this game. I have not yet tried it on the PC, only Xbox 360 but damn! It’s so much fun and I’ve been playing like mad for the last week or so. It all started when top Quake III player “fazz” from Sweden was urging me to buy it, after I told him I’ve been going hard on Halo 3. I took his advice and found one for sale on Craigslist (I shop CL for lots of stuff!)

I believe this is a must have for any gamers collection who loves FPS shooters. I haven’t seen it on PC, but I think it’s safe to assume it’s just as fabulous! RocketQueen also bought herself a new gaming rig and has been having some sleepless nights.

I’ve still been playing a bit of Halo 3 but overall I prefer this game…I also picked up Rock Band though I’m going to return it and get Guitar Hero III instead. Here’s a little video clip to display what the game is like, though it really doesn’t do this game justice as you must experience it yourself! The graphics are amazing too :) GL & HF!

I can’t believe I got hooked on Cake Mania 2 - trito

Sometimes I play cute shockwave games on shockwave.com, mostly puzzle games. But yesterday I tried a completely new game: Cake Mania 2. You have your own bakery and customers come in and place orders. Then you bake and decorate the cakes based on the orders. You have a budget to follow and if you reach the budget goal after each month you can use the money you’ve earned to upgrade your bakery.

In the online version some of the upgrades are locked and there are not as many “maps/bakeries” to play. I got so hooked up with this game I wanted to play it more, so believe it or not, but I bought and downloaded the full version. Today I’ve spent about 6 hours baking cakes. It might look like a relaxing game, but it isn’t. The game gets really intense and stressful towards the end. Many customers and orders, and you don’t have all the time in the world to finish the orders.

Ohh and the game has 6 different endings… I’ve played one ending and now I’m on my second round.
