Liefje on Swedish National television tonight

Are you living in Sweden? Make sure you don’t miss Kulturnyheterna at 7 pm CET. They have interviewed Liefje to find out what it is like to be a pro gamer. Liefje also explains what skills you need to be good in DOA4 and you also get to see her playing the game.

Are you not living in Sweden and want to see Liefje? Don’t worry, head over to SVT website and you can stream the video. Click “kulturnyheterna” in the right frame, then “Sändningar” in the popup window. The you click “Tisdag 20 november”. If you can’t find that link it is not up yet. It’s a ten minute broadcast and the part about Liefje will be towards the end. Some of the speaker text will be in Swedish, but the parts where Liefje speaks it’s in English.

Enjoy!

New member!

Yay :) I’m happy to say we’ve picked up a new member for the team. It seems apparent that the competitive scene is leaning towards console these days, so as a team we’re going to focus on both PC and Xbox. This is of course an exciting time for us, and I can’t wait to enter this new realm of gaming. On that note — I’m really pleased to welcome Tunesha “Chickamungus” Davis from Atlanta, Georgia to the team and hopefully she will join Coochie Dimes at the Winter CPL to unleash in the $1 million Halo 3 tournament there!

Apart from Chickamungus playing the Xbox specializing in Halo 3, we also have Liefje who’s been going hard on Dead or Alive 4 for the Championship Gaming Series draft, Coochie Dimes and DeeAy who have been going hard at a variety of different games, and in a couple of weeks Ms.X will be at it too. Maybe we will have some fun Xbox team nights, stay tuned for more :>

g0d turns 6 with exciting news to boot!

Yes indeed, we’ve been around for a while - 6 years to be exact and the end of every October brings great joy that we are [as far as I know] the longest active professional female gaming team in the world.

There was some down time this year after the Home of Chrome closure, but things are coming together once again as Liefje kicked off by getting herself drafted into the Championship Gaming League, Trinelin and Ms.X took a trip down to the World Cyber Games in Seattle to do a shootout at the Razer booth and chill in the STOKED energy lounge, and of course Coochie Dimes secured herself a spot in the Miss Video Game finals, which will soon be taking place at the Arcadia gaming festival in Montreal Canada. The Quake cake shown below was actually DeeAy’s wedding cake!!

In addition to all of the above awesomeness, I am so happy to announce that the girlz 0f destruction will be teaming up with STOKED Energy until the end of the year to attend more events and introduce a yummy energy drink to gamers that doesn’t include high fructose corn syrup and has 6 great flavors to choose from….including the newest and popular “After Burn” which has a warming effect when you drink it, and “Wind Chill” which has a chilling sensation when consumed.

Have a peek at the brand new site that’s been launched, it’s fun and social and you will see blogging and event coverage from both team Evil Geniuses (EG) and girlz 0f destruction. Woo!

Yvonna : MVG candidate!

I’m going to write my very first news entry in our newest website and I thought I could write about our beloved mate Yvonna whom participated at the online competition to be one of the selected candidates to become Miss Video Games. She’s been picked as one of the five finalist and because of that, the website for female gamers Femina United, where I am a writter myself, decided to get to know her a little bit better.

She gave her opinion about pretty much everything related to MVG and the Female scene. I selected a piece of the interview as example:

FeminaUnited: How can you help / support other female gamers being MVG 2007?

By being an example that one would not have to have been raised with gaming since childhood or even be the best at gaming to enjoy the heck out of it. I would support the established gamers by recognizing and appreciating the hours of hard work and skill needed to be at the level they have achieved. For newcomers, I would encourage them to continue in their gaming endeavors. From the casual gamer to the hardcore competitive player, I would say “lets meet on MVG!” It is a place where all would be welcomed to go with their gaming interests and for camaraderie. If crowned, I would take use of the media wherever I could to minimize the exclusionary, unsubstantiated rules that some girls in the internet gaming community have placed on the definition of what a girl gamer should be.

You can get to read the whole interview HERE. Enjoy!

Trinelin featured on Gamers Journal

After a good few days of Unreal Tournament 2004 rage at the World Cyber Games in Seattle, our newest member Trinelin proved why she’s a g0d! After playing 78 challenges from gamers around the world, she came out alive with only three losses and Ms.X playing 64 games and losing only one.

Bill Hutchens of the News Tribune has written some nice words on Trinelin and included a video of her kicking butt at the shootout.

To view the writeup and video, follow this link. Thanks for the mention Bill!
