How it is to play Counter-Strike!
Hi everyone. I haven’t had the time to write anything for a while. Actually I didn’t have much to say but I think it’s time to update my situation. I’m aNouC and I’ve been playing Counter-Strike much more than Quake during the last years, even I started with that game and is the one I like the most.
Last summer 2007 I went to the ESWC, as I used to do every year. I represented Spain together with four girls, because Counter- Strike is a game played on a 5 vs 5 modus. We’ve been kinda unlucky with our lineup because since we made the Top3 in 2005, we went through some lineup changes that made very difficult for us to fix our teamplay and to have a team stability which in this game is quite important aswell as having the right motivation. That’s why in 2006 and 2007 we only took the 5th place due to our own mistakes.
After the last tournament, we all took a break till the new season started. I decided to step back for a while. Told my mates I needed to focus on some other things and so I did. We finished the ESL Major Series playing very badly, due to the lack of activity and motivation, even we were doing great at the beginning. Then everyone got lost. We left the organisation that was supporting us and we all took different ways. I needed at least two or three weeks far from the game and from most of the people till I finally recovered some energy. On that point I decided to play with males instead of starting over with a female team. Actually one of my former mates and best friend, joined another team so I thought we would never be together again and somehow I thought I would be retired from the Counter-Strike female scene. I didn’t feel right with all that, because I still wanted to go to the ESWC but I couldn’t see an option to get there. It was almost impossible to fix a competitive team on that situation so I forgot about it for some time. Last february, my friend iRene was kicked from her team and she was clanless again. She came to me to talk about it and the idea of being together again and prepare something was on the air. But we knew it was very difficult. We weren’t talking to some of the other girls since last summer, some others have been inactive for a couple of years and another one was going to be very busy on her new job so it seemed almost impossible to do anything. Suddenly somebody announced a LAN Tournament in Madrid, with a female combo on it. That was pretty interesting and we both tried to put together some old friends to give it a try. If we had the chance to meet up, would be much easier to talk about our future too, in case there was any.
The event was small but the feeling I had there was amazing. I had fun, I met some old friends and we’ve done well together, even without preparation. We managed to beat all spanish and portuguese teams and end up being the winners and leaving the place with 1.000 Euros and a big smile. We had time to talk and we decided we wanted more of this, we wanted to be together again. That’s how once at home we decided to announce our comeback. Celebrating the 10th year of a community I started once as a Quake team, we became the new spanish badGirls for now. We are playing the ESL Major Series II, where we already won our games against Defeaters, ALTERNATE aTTaX and Endless Inspiration. We still should have to win extenSia and Les Seules if we want to go to the brackets, but we will see what happens. For now we are just trying to get some teamplay back, doing some tactics and practicing a little bit every day from 22.00 CET.
Now we can just hope to have a ESWC Qualifier in Spain, that gives us a slot to go to the big finals in California. At the same time we applied for the ESWC Masters in Paris, just in case we don’t have the qualification, we will have to win the Masters and use the money to go to America. And that’s it… that’s how everything happend during the last half a year, what I’ve done and how I felt. I’m motivated again about the ESWC, which is the top event for a CS team. I would also like to reinstall Quake 3 to play it again on my free time, but since my computer is not working very well, I prefer to wait first. I love to teamplay and I would like to see some Q3 or even Q4 TDM tournaments, so I could play together with my lovely girlz 0f destruction! Damn it, I miss the rail…
Good Blog. I will continue reading it in the future. Nice layout too.
